Glue Chipping

Glue chipping is another way in which to add stunning texture to glass. The method uses animal glue that is applied to the glass in a controlled environment. As the glue dries, it contracts, chipping the glass in a random formation, leaving you with a truly unique art piece.

Glue chipping has been widely used for a variety of advertising mirrors and signs and is especially popular with breweries and distilleries to this day, to create unique signage.

We can create you a bespoke finish, with a range of techniques, your sign will be a true reflection of you or your business.

Unique Glass Finish

The process of glue chipping includes etching the glass first to create a ‘tooth’ for the animal glue to adhere to. This will be done in a range of patterns or even text in the negative space, so you can personalise the finish. Once done, the glue is then slowly dried, causing it to add pressure to the glass and eventually shards are chipped away in a random formation.

Depending on the technique used, we can create patterns mimicking ferns, shells, or frost on windows. The possibilities with this option are endless.
